Back in 1988 I had heard of this school for film making in Orlando Florida. So I had to check it out, but my mom thought it was a joke. Then again in 1992 I took a trip out there for an open house. I really wanted to go, and did apply for finacal aid. But was turn down immediately. Depressed and slinging chicken wings at Hooters in 1995 I simply came with the thought "I am an artist, what am I doing here". So again I headed over to Orlando to the Full Sail facilies. This time I was determined. I even decided to move to Orlando and got a job at Planet Hollywood, because i couldn't even get a jib in the mail room at Full Sail. I just wanted to be a pary of that life style. Then after submitting my finacial aid in three times. I finally got excepted, with the help of my sister co-signing my loan.I finally started class in June of 1996. Which felt so good!
I also have to give a shout out to my administrator rep John Abraham. Who didn't give up on me.
I entered the program of film & video, but soon was tempted by this new big thing... Digital Media. Now I never had been on a computer prior to this so I had a meeting with Isis Jones the director of Digital Media at the time. She looked at the artwork I had done in the past, and said we can teach you all about computers we can't teach you this. Pointing at my art work.
A new beginning had begun, it was rough. Because I had a lot to learn, but because I loved it so much. I took it all in like a sponge. I soon began to work for FullSail as a tour guide and any other odds and ends that would let me learn more. My time at Full Sail was a weath of knowledge, and wouldn't have changed it for the world.
Then 15 minutes after graduation Garry Jones approuched me. He was the vice president of Full Sail at the time, and offer me a job in there creative department. Wow, in 14 months I went from not being able to get a job in the mail room, to being offered a job in there creative department. That gave me the confidence I so needed. I very nicely turned down offer Garry gave me to persue my dreams.
California here I come!
